We actively participate in expert groups of domestic legislation and guidelines, participate as experts in various training events and seminars, and disseminate fire safety know-how to companies, associations and anyone else interested.<\/p>\n<h2>Trainings and seminars<\/h2>\n<p>We organize trainings and lectures for professionals in the field such as architects, the construction products industry, authorities and students in the field. Our trainers have been a familiar sight, inter alia, in the lecture halls of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aalto.fi\/fi\"> Aalto University<\/a>. Esko Mikkola, expert of the fire safety of wood construction at KK-Palokonsultti Oy, was part of the extensive and expert international team of writers.<\/p>\n<p>The 486-page book, edited by Andrew Buchanan and Birgit \u00d6stman, was published in late July 2022. The book is published by CRC Press (Taylor &amp; Francis Group) and its electronic Open Access version published under the <a href=\"https:\/\/creativecommons.org\/licenses\/by-nc-nd\/4.0\/\">CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 license<\/a> (ISBN 9781003190318) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.taylorfrancis.com\/books\/oa-edit\/10.1201\/9781003190318\/fire-safe-use-wood-buildings-andrew-buchanan-birgit-%C3%B6stman\">can be copied online<\/a>. The first edition was based on the fire safety regulations that entered into force at 2018. The complimented guide was written by construction engineer Tero Lahtela. The compilation of the guide, funded by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.metsasaatio.fi\/\">Finnish Forest Foundation<\/a>, was supervised by <strong>Esko Mikkola<\/strong> from KK-Palokonsultti Oy and a steering group made up of representatives of the wood products industry. The first edition was based on the fire safety regulations that entered into force at 2018.<\/p>\n<p>The second edition of the guide, published in 2021, has been updated with the changes in regulations that came into force at the beginning of 2021 (927\/2020) and other clarifications that have come to light over the years. The aim of the publication is to help the reader understand the technical properties of wooden structures as well as the regulations affecting fire protection, and thus avoid typical design and construction errors.
