KK-Palokonsultti Oy completed a thesis in which the actual number of people measured in Finnish shopping centers was compared with the number of people in the explanatory memorandum of the Ministry of the Environment’s fire safety regulation. The Herttoniemen jäähalli ice rink, completed in the fall of 2023 in the Herttoniemi district on the eastern side of Helsinki, is a multifunctional ice sports center for enthusiasts of ice hockey, figure skating, and other ice sports. We completed the fire engineering design for the building permit phase and the smoke extraction design for the implementation phase of the Herttoniemen jäähalli. The building’s fire safety design was largely based on performance-based fire safety design. Performance-based fire safety design significantly reduced the construction costs and carbon footprint of the Herttoniemen jäähalli ice rink. Katajanokan Laituri, a joint construction project of Varma Mutual Pension Insurance Company and Stora Enso, is a new masterpiece of Finnish wooden construction and a flagship of Finnish architecture. The building will be completed in the summer of 2024 in the South Harbour, Helsinki. Among other things, Stora Enso’s new head office and S Group’s high-end Sokotel hotel will be located in the wooden office building built on the parade ground of a significant cultural environment. In this project, we carried out the fire engineering design. We have also prepared numerous construction site-specific expert opinions and various fire technical reports (observation photo: Anttinen Oiva Arkkitehdit Oy). Read more
